Reviews about Simple Bath
- ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆July 02, 2020, by Caity Weiland3 years into having my small 60+ year old bathroom renovated by Simple Bath I'm just not in love and I wish I had spent my $6500 some other way. I am a young first time homeowner and was dealing with a dingy looking bathtub with worn enamel and antiquated pink and black tile throughout, with some starting to fall off around the tub faucet. I was sold by Simple Bath on the notion of a solid surface that was easy to clean and didn't succumb to crumbling grout and moisture intrusion like tile did. I'm not convinced that this acrylic subway tile-style shower surface is going to look good after even 10 years--that's because hard water stains and soap scum get stuck in the crevices and are a pain to clean with the gentle methods that are the only option for cleaning acrylic, otherwise it's extremely tedious and you just cant go to town on it as with ceramic. It's just going to end up looking scratched and discolored, I'm sure! The acrylic tub itself is fine. The plastic add on corner shelves ($$) are merely surface mounted using a puffy double sided tape and caulk, and one of them failed and fell off after two years of holding nothing but the weight of shampoo bottles. Not hard for me to fix myself, but why?? Everything else that is caulked already needs to be recaulked due to mildew. Other nuisances include the fact that they pride themselves in tearing down everything behind the wall too to start with fresh greenboard behind on the wet walls. Wish they had bothered to recommend maybe replacing the old galvanized supply lines while things were exposed, but whatever (a plumber who replaced some drains for me remodels bathrooms and said he would have recommended the same). Now it's just another hassle when those eventually need to be replaced.. Little details omitted like replacing the escutcheons around the wall protusions. That Lifetime Guarantee on the things they supply apparently includes an $89 service charge, which I learned when the flapper on the "trouble free" American Standard Cadet toilet they installed was sticking up, leaking, and coming unhinged, and the seal between the flange and toilet was leaking black water into the basement. They came out and re-set the toilet, but the flapper remained a problem because the unhinging/bad sealing didn't occur in front of the plumber after two test flushes. I later replaced it myself for $12. Apparently it's a really common problem so again, why? I'm not planning on selling my house anytime soon, so I'm anxious to see how this bathroom ages. At such a significant cost to me I regret not going with traditional materials like tile. Perhaps I would have ended up with some similar problems (much further) down the line, but I'd have had a more elegant looking bathroom rather than this overpriced plastic that looks ok, gets just as soap-scummy, and is a lot fussier in terms of how it needs to be cleaned.
